Lash Lift or Eyelash Extensions

Updated: Dec 9, 2019

You've been thinking about getting an Eyelash Lift (Lash Lift / Lash Perm), however you've heard about or have a friend who has Eyelash Extensions. Which one is right for you? For real solutions and achievement of your lash goals, we must start with an in person consultation to discuss realistic options for your natural lashes. We will discuss the length of your natural lashes, are your natural lashes straight, do they curl in to your eyes, are they light in color and need mascara to be seen, or are they sparse and/or with gaps in between them? I will suggest the best course of action to achieve your lash goals and then we will do a patch test for either lash extensions or a lash lift.

Eyelash Extensions

Cons for Eyelash Extensions: high maintenance initial investment for a full set $100 to upwards of $200, in addition fills ($45-$90) are recommended every 2-3 weeks.

Side Note: Some would say that eyelash extension damage your natural lashes. The eyelash extensions industry has positively evolved tremendously in the last 10 years. When they first became available it was the Wild Wild West with almost no industry standard or regulations. That has changed, now great care and focus is placed on the health and care of natural lashes. In my experience as a lash tech since 2009 and as a lash extensions client, recently I have only seen natural lashes damaged from eyelash extensions 1- when home care was not followed and 2- when lash extensions where applied by an inexperienced or non-certified/trained individual. You might be a person who has had a negative experience with eyelash extensions and are now reading this thinking to yourself that I am full of it and just trying to sell some lashes. I'm not about that life! I hate selling and believe if something is awesome it sells itself. I'm letting lash extension haters know why they had a bad experience. It's up to them if they want to continue to deny themselves of this wonderful and safe service, however if they want to come back to the dark side they should seek out a certified/trained, and experienced professional.

Pros For Eyelash Extensions: semi-permanent can be worn for extended period of time with fills (extensions shed with natural lashes), adds volume, curl, length, color/tint, no mascara/lash line eyeliner effect without make-up, less time doing your make-up, and without the hassles associated with false eyelash extensions.

No-no's for eyelash extensions: no rubbing eyes, no mascara, no liquid eyeliner, lash growth serum can be used.

Lash Lift

Cons for eyelash lifts: no go if you are allergic to perm solution, works on any length of natural lashes however best results are with long(er) lashes, lash lifts recommended every 6-8 weeks, does not add volume, does not add length, does not add color/tint, over processing can occur.

Pros for Lash Lifts: Low maintenance, semi-permanent shape, lift & curl (lasts 6-8 weeks), no mechanical lash curler needed, you can wear mascara & liquid eyeliner. Lashes can be tinted immediately after a lift, nourishing keratin treatment for lashes can be added on, lash growth serum can be used.
